A busy day on, er, with links (sorry, was thinking about how it won’t be much longer before we can be out on the golf course again) today, then a basketball game tonight. I’m sorry I couldn’t bring you more basketball coverage this week, but another major job search has gotten in the way. We have links on that front as well. So read on.

• Washington State: The Bill Moos Tour finished up in Pullman last evening, but not before he played before a sold-out crowd in the nutrition building (I wonder if he stopped by Ferdinand’s afterward for a cone?). We had our story which also appeared in the Seattle Times and on the blog last night. … The News Tribune’s Dave Boling had his thoughts on Moos and freelancer Howie Stalwick put together this story for the Kitsap Sun and other papers. … With basketball on the horizon tonight, we looked toward a possible postseason berth and came up with a conclusion: Unless WSU gets scalding hot down the stretch, winning four of five or so and then making noise in the Pac-10 tourney (or, if you want to think big, winning it and the NCAA berth that goes with it), the CBI is probably its best shot.

• Around the Pac-10: The Bruins are in Pullman and, thanks to graduation, injury and early defections, Malcolm Lee is playing the role of point guard. … The Oregon schools are hosting their counterparts from the Bay Area (we get into Oregon’s football troubles at the end of this section), with a rested Cal team trying to solve the puzzle of OSU’s zone and UO’s Tajuan Porter trying to solve his puzzling shooting slump. … Over in Seattle, Washington is worried about USC’s size. And the Trojans are trying to become a better road team . … Former Cougar Bob Gregory has left Cal , where he was defensive coordinator, for Boise State, where he’ll be a defensive assistant. Interesting. … OK, now on to Oregon’s troubles, highlighted this week by running back LaMichael James’ arrest , the latest in a string of recent run-ins with the law. That string is stretching the patience of some, including Oregonian columnist John Canzano , the Register-Guard’s George Schroeder and Buster Sports’ Nick Daschel .
