Deficit Cutting 101

The Spokesman-Review

President Obama has appointed a commission to look for ways to bring down the federal deficit. If he really wants to bring down the deficit, why doesn’t he … stop spending money? Now there is an idea that I would think a Harvard Law professor might understand.

The $860 billion TARP program is nothing but a huge transfer of wealth, and many Democrats are now saying that not a single meaningful job has been created.

If the president was serious about creating jobs, he would cut taxes and regulations that would allow small business to grow. Small businesses are the engine of our economy.

We are fortunate to have the leadership of Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers representing us in the 5th District. Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers understands the implications of additional taxes and government control. We need her common sense and judgment now more than ever. I urge you to support her for re-election in November.

It is also time for state Sen. Lisa Brown and the liberals on the West Side of the state to be shown the door. That is the kind “hope and change” we need.
