Cleanliness without phosphates
There’s good news for Doug Clark and the other folk who feel compelled to make a mad dash to Idaho to buy phosphate dishwashing detergent. The August 2009 Consumer Reports magazine, which is available in most libraries, contains the results of a tough test comparing dishwashing detergents with and without phosphates. The test used dishes “… smeared with a baked-on blend of 17 foods … .” The best-rated non-phosphate product was rated “excellent” for dishes and for a lack of water spots – results that equaled two products that contain phosphates.
Hopefully, the use of such a non-phosphate detergent, by more of us, will help to improve and protect the quality of our beautiful river.
