Feds shirking security duty

The Spokesman-Review

It’s time the American citizenry realize the federal government isn’t going to hold itself accountable. The latest example is the Christmas panty bomber. The federal government knew of this terrorist; it had procedures and systems in place to prevent this situation. But the people running the system didn’t do their job or follow procedures.

Even Obama said he would not tolerate the failure of those responsible for allowing this disaster. Yet no sooner does the president walk out of sight and the “outrage” is over. But in symbolic gesture of the government protecting us, out comes the order solely intended to distract the public: “Send the peasants through TSA screening – naked!”

Hold on there, Mr. Federal Government. You are the one that fouled up; you are the one who failed to do your job. Shouldn’t it be you, Mr. Federal Government, that should be screened for weaknesses and failures? Shouldn’t those in government who failed be replaced with someone capable and competent?

I’m tired of the government fouling up, then throwing the blame elsewhere, like on the American people and our way of life.

Our Constitution makes the government subservient to “We the People,” not the other way around.
