MC: Do The Crime, Still Vote
The Ninth Circuit Court has handed Washington Democrats one of their
fondest dreams without
paying the slightest political price. Two of the
Democrats’ most loyal constituencies are the dead and convicted felons.
Allies such as ACORN see to it that the dead get to the polls. And a
three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit decided that the sixties era
Voting Rights Act gives felons the right to vote. The court reasoned
that denying felons the vote disproportionately disenfranchised African
Americans. According to Circuit Court Judge A. Wallace Tashima, the
attorneys for the felons “have demonstrated that police practices,
searches, arrests, detention practices and plea bargaining practices
lead to a greater burden on minorities that cannot be explained in
race-neutral ways”/

Question: Do you agree with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals that felons should have the right to vote?
