2C Etc: In Defense Of Wikipedia
Despite
its inherent flaws, Wikipedia is an amazing source of information with more than 14 million articles. It’s far more comprehensive than any printed encyclopedia, and in some ways, it’s more accurate because it’s not as in danger of becoming obsolete. It’s almost a guarantee that when any famous person dies, their wiki is revised within a few minutes of their death being announced. Another thing that makes Wikipedia great is the fact that it’s fun to read. I’ve never met someone who reads the World Book Encyclopedia for fun, yet I know people (including myself) who find wikis enjoyable to peruse, and judging by the fact that the Web site gets 65 million users monthly, we’re not the only ones/
