Ax? Or Teeth?

“This has GOT to be a world class sized Beaver!” posts Pecky Cox/As The Lake Churns. “He or she has dropped 10 large trees along Lakeshore Rd. near Luby Bay campground.  All were live and healthy trees and did ot even have a Forest Service splash of special green “good to go down” paint on them.  The trees were dropped in the space of just a few days but it seems unusual that they would be doing this with not a whisper of stream or creek nearby.”

Question: Was this damage done by a beaver? Or someone w/an ax? Feel free to speculate.
