Compare presidential record

Those who live in glass houses probably shouldn’t be throwing stones. Phyllis Hyatt’s whining about the president playing four hours of golf during the Gulf crisis caused by British Petroleum (Letters, June 29) leads me to believe that she must have forgot the previous president’s response to Katrina.

At least Obama didn’t promise not to play golf until the last drop of oil was all cleaned up and then go and play a round anyway. How many vacation days did George W. Bush take, Phyllis? Well, he broke Ronald Reagan’s record. I believe it was almost 900 days during his eight-year term.

That works out to about 30 percent of eight years.

By the way, the Coast Guard was in the Gulf from day one of the spill. I am a little confused. I thought Phyllis’ party wanted less government involvement in private industry and less regulation in environmental issues.
