Prosecutor change in order
In a time when local governments are in crisis mode due to significant revenue shortfalls, we need to elect candidates who’ll maximize the return on every tax dollar. One primary area of government responsibility is criminal justice, and one office in need of scrutiny this election year is the county prosecutor’s office.
Taxpayers’ money can be saved if career criminals get the justice they deserve. Statistically, 20 percent of criminals in our system commit 80 percent of the crimes. These people need to be locked away. Why should they continue to victimize the public?
Dave Stevens is willing to prioritize repeat offenders. Why should a criminal with nine separate felony convictions and dozens of misdemeanors be out on the street without serving any extensive incarceration time? Yet many repeat offenders are doing just that. Dave will work to keep these career criminals where they belong – behind bars.
Dave’s also pledged to prosecute criminals himself, thus adding valuable courtroom experience without increasing payroll cost. We need this kind of active leadership and accountability. Dave Stevens is a career prosecutor who knows how to get more “bang for the buck” for county taxpayers. Let’s elect him as Spokane County prosecutor.
