Jail option list growing

Ray Hunter (Letters, May 29) had the idea to use the vacant YMCA building as a jail instead of building an expensive new jail. Here’s another idea: Hardin, Mont., has a brand spanking new prison which has never held an inmate. How about Spokane renting the prison from Montana to hold Spokane’s overflow should that need come?

At the same time, the prison could also take prisoners from Montana should there become an excess of prisoners there. Win for Montana and win for Spokane. Spokane could make a sigh of relief that our pockets aren’t going to be picked again. There are other solutions.
