Take borders seriously

The Spokesman-Review

Froma Harrop’s column published May 29, “Secure borders with strict work rules,” certainly put the U.S. immigration policy in proper focus. She contrasted Canada’s immigration policy with ours. What a difference.

Canada requires for the most part that the immigrant have desirable work skills. They don’t permit millions of immigrants, legal or illegal, to overrun their economy. That is precisely why California has a multibillion-dollar deficit. The social coffers are being drained by illegal persons. How about taking care of our citizens first and providing transportation to those who don’t legally qualify back to their illegal entry point?

President Obama recently stated, “Our borders don’t define the country.” From my perspective that is evidence enough to start impeachment proceedings. If our borders don’t define our country, what does?

Historically, borders have provided sovereignty for the citizens living within. Arizona is being criticized for their new law that goes into effect in July. The current administration is trying to overthrow their effort.

Come November let’s show those so-called progressives that this is a country of enforceable laws. The laws are there – let’s put people in office that respect our sovereignty as a country.
