Money talks, not motorists

The Spokesman-Review

Police are cracking down on all of us who dare to talk on cell phones and drive. Have all small crimes like rape, murder, theft and drug sales been eradicated so the police can now bring down this huge crime ring of talkers? Aren’t cops busy enough already? They ran this as a secondary offense to gain support then changed it to a primary offense. Didn’t see that coming. Not!

Truck drivers for years have communicated safely using citizen band radios and two-way devices not unlike cell phones. What, all of a sudden, makes this so dangerous? Could it be the money the government entities are confiscating?

Most don’t know that in traffic court you are guilty until proved innocent, and hardly anyone can prove that. Traffic courts are a joke and really all about raising money. I wonder if listening to talk radio will be next. Nobody does that.

One good thing that may come from this is that more people will now be affected by traffic fines, waking us up to the fact that all traffic law is about generating millions in revenue for the entities protecting us from ourselves.
