The Spokesman-Review

The oil leaking in the Gulf is not a national problem but an international disaster. What I think the world should be doing is starting now to work on solutions for the deep-water oil drilling.

This is just the beginning. There will be other deep-water blowouts around the world. What needs to be set up are standard operating procedures for dealing with the problem and development of equipment that can operate in the depth they are working, and have the equipment spotted around the world, so there would not be delays.

With trained personnel we would not need to depend on oil companies to give us orders.
