Show chief exit door

The Spokesman-Review

Since Anne Kirkpatrick, the Spokane police chief, is so actively seeking an opportunity to serve as the police chief in some other city, I am urging the mayor and City Council to give her that opportunity by terminating her to allow her to pursue that dream on a full-time basis.

Since becoming the police chief, the unrest among those under her charge, when combined with the increase in gang activities, smash-and-grab thefts, carjacking and running from police pursuits, clearly demonstrates that she doesn’t have her arms around the problems in our city.

The recent legal proceedings and settlements involving those under her charge, as well as the general feeling about public safety and crime, should be enough for the city’s management to say “so long, and best wishes in your new opportunity.”
