Tips sought on would-be pizza shop robber

Police still are looking for an armed robber who fled a north Spokane pizza place empty handed Thursday after a clerk pulled out a gun of his own.

Officers found part of what appeared to be a pellet gun in the parking lot of Pizza Pipeline, 1724 W. Wellesley, and believe the robber dropped it while fleeing.

A police dog and officer searched for the robber’s trail but were unable to locate the man, who was last seen running northbound from the store; a police dog couldn’t track a scent.

The clerk, who has a concealed handgun permit, ordered had ordered the man to drop the gun when he tried robbing the place about 9:45 p.m.

The culprit was described as white, 5-foot-9, “younger” and very thin. He wore jeans, a dark zip-up sweater, light-colored gloves and a green mask and was last seen running northbound from the store.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
