Chiefs blank Portland

James Reid got his fifth shutout of the season and second agianst Portland as the Spokane Chiefs moved four points ahead of the Winterhawks in the race for playoff positioning.

Mitch Wahl and Kyle Beach scored first period goals, the league-leading 49th for Beach, with Kenton Miller adding a marker in the second and Matt Marantz in just his second game back from an injury scored in the fourth.

Reid made 28 saves.
