Better to close park

The Spokesman-Review

So the county is keeping Fish Lake Park open but with no maintenance. Bathrooms locked. Water off. No trash cans, no tables, no nothing. Children at the swim beach and playground will still go to the bathroom … somewhere, as will the boaters and fishermen. Trash will be strewn about the park. The lake will be a giant toilet and garbage dump.

The Parks Department is creating a dangerous and filthy place, overrun by undesirables. There will be tall weeds full of feces, dirty needles, rat-infested garbage and broken bottles.

The county will be open to lawsuits from the public. My advice: Close the park down. Chain it up. When you can return to a sane policy of sanitation and safety, reopen. This is destruction, not a plan.
