Duffel bag love

A handmade duffel bag created following a sewing pattern written by Spokane seamstress Cherie Killilea sits in a Seattle hotel lobby. (Megan Cooley)

Just a quick post to say I purchased one of Cherie Killilea’s sewing patterns—her PDF tutorial for making a duffel bag—and had as much fun making it last week as I had strutting around Seattle with it this weekend. The instructions were crystal clear and I’m thrilled with the outcome (see it in action at the downtown Seattle Red Lion Hotel above).

You can read more about my new friend Duffy (can you tell how proud I am of this project?) and see additional photos on my craft blog, Penny Carnival .

And you can read my previous posts about Cherie and her Etsy shop here and here .

Are any other Spokanites writing and selling patterns? Have a pattern made elsewhere (either by an Etsy-type seller or a big pattern maker like Simplicity) that you’d like to recommend? Or perhaps a photo of a finished project you made, whether it’s sewing or knitting or whatnot?

Leave a comment or drop me a line (megan.cooley@comcast.net). I’d love to post your suggestions and projects here.
