Half: Gaels 30, Zags 29
Guard Mickey McConnell scored the game’s first seven points and had 14 in the half as Saint Mary’s took a 30-29 lead over Gonzaga at the break in the WCC men’s tournament championship game.
Gonzaga was sluggish on offense, hitting just 8 of 22 shots. Matt Bouldin scored 12 points (7 of 7 free throws) and Steven Gray had six (4 of 4 FTs). Elias Harris missed his first six shots before making a 3-pointer. The Bulldogs pulled even, but never took the lead.
The Gaels didn’t shoot much better (37.5 percent), but they hit four 3-pointers, two each by McConnell and Ben Allen, who finished the half with 10 points. Omar Samhan was 0 of 5 and didn’t score in 18 minutes.
More at the buzzer.
