Wilkey To Seek Coroner Post

“Serving as county coroner has been a goal for a number of years,” writes Deputy Coroner Deb Wilkey in a news release announcing her candidacy for retiring Coroner Bob West’s position. “I realize that the current coroner leaves large and well-respected shoes to fill. However, I am confident in my ability to step in where he leaves off and will continue with his wish to ‘raise the bar’ for standards of the office. I have consistently taken the initiative to ensure that each step towards this goal has provided the experience and education necessary for objective and compassionate inquiry into each person’s death. Question: I applaud anyone who seeks the office of coroner. It’s definitely one that I’d never want, even if I was qualified for it. How about you?
