Immigrants’ role has changed

The Spokesman-Review

I’m tired of the statement, “Embrace the immigrants; remember, they built this country.”

That’s true except for one thing. The immigrants that built this country never heard of a social service agency. They received no entitlements from the government and they didn’t languish in small enclaves and wait for a government check. They worked for every dime they received. They spread across America with a vision of making their adopted country prosperous as well as themselves.

The truth hurts but needs to be told. Also, these new immigrants learned the English language so America could totally accept them and the contributions they were making.

Yes, I’m all for embracing immigrants when they totally embrace America like our forefathers did.
