Park cuts shortsighted

The Spokesman-Review

While there are many families in Spokane County who are fortunate enough to have access to a cabin on “the lake” or on “the river,” there are many more who do not. On a hot summer day, these families have limited options for public-access beaches for swimming, picnicking and family celebrations.

Bear Lake is one of them. So is Pine River Park.

To eliminate the availability of drinking water, restrooms and garbage pickup by assigning them as level 3 parks will further curtail recreational options for families trying to stretch their leisure dollars in these challenging economic times.
