Where are the facts?
I for one am getting tired of “conservatives” who send in angry rebuttals to ideas that don’t correspond to their beliefs. They are entitled to their opinions, but in the real world, they should be borne out with facts, not opinion, and least of all invective.
Recently, Eric Morris (Letters, March 11) wrote to complain that Leonard Pitts claimed that the Tea Partiers were racist, and in his “opinion” they are not.
In the 164 words of Morris’ letter, there is not one single fact stated to bolster his claim. Lots of adjectives, loads of bluster, tons of opinion, but not one single fact. Perhaps conservatives should take a course in logic.
On the same page, R. Dimmick stated that he thought that selling insurance across state lines and tort reform might pretty much solve the heath care problem.
Tort reform has some merit but it is not responsible for very much of health care costs, even though it causes over-diagnosis to avoid lawsuits. Selling insurance interstate could cause the industry to move to states with the least restrictive laws and could limit the amount of regulation possible by the individual states. That might result in worse health care.
