Facing down the hazards
Being not on the green after six strokes, I’m sure Jim Kershner’s 401(k) was on the verge of going into a negative balance at the same moment (column, March 13), thus requiring an out-of-pocket payment to cover maintenance and management fees. His delight at salvaging an eight after an apparent sure four really is a victory against the forces that deny success.
Though his 401(k) may be shrunken, it’s now stabilized, and in this era of suspended dividend turmoil, toxic statements, demeaning derivatives, and TARP-driven stimulations, there’s nothing like a good article to whip the cauldron of delight into a froth.
