Parks live up to legacy
When my husband and I first came to Spokane, it was to “check it out” as a place to raise a family. We were struck by the commitment of the early city leaders to provide parks within reach of all the neighborhoods. We felt that when a city is so committed to provide parks for the people, it must be a good place to raise a family. Three children and 30 years later, we still feel that way. Passionately.
As county residents, we happily voted yes on all the Conservation Futures taxes and rejoiced when we did not have to vote anymore. I have visited many pieces of preserved conservation land countywide. They are wonderful, but not one of them receives, in an entire year, the amount of visitors that Riverfront Park receives in one good weekend.
Please continue the Spokane parks legacy and give the people the first right to enjoy the wonders of that site the YMCA sits on.
