Testing the tested.

Grace Chiquette

I just read an article that Energy Star, a jointly run program by the Dept. of Energy and the EPA
plan on doing additional tests to ensure that products receiving the Energy Star certification actually perform better than products without the certification.
Third-Party verifications will bring additional attention to the importance of emerging technology and energy conservation.
The more “light” (involvement) and conversation we get going…the more true change is going to happen.
Innovations will come-forth as we dialogue and debate the issues that we all face.  I am all for it!
I look forward to the day, when my first time home buyers ask me about Energy saving features to the homes we are previewing and not just as a sideline item.
I look forward to the day, when first time home buyers ask me what appliances in the home have been upgraded to Save on energy and money and not just
what appliances are included in the list price.  I look forward to the day when energy efficient windows and doors are more important than Granite Countertops and 3 Car Garages.
Energy efficiency just isn’t as “sexy” as those “most requested” features.  We as REALTOR, need to start conveying more to our Buyers the benefits of energy efficient features.
Let’s make energy upgrades “SEXY.”   We can start the dialogue by pointing out that there’s so much energy efficiency in this home they are going to feel much more comfortable
walking around the house without clothes on…or that with that extra insulation, you make much more noise in the bedroom and not disturb the neighbors BBQ.
How about pointing out that the low water use toilets, showerheads and faucets are substantially quieter with softer mists than those noisy hard water hogs of yesterday.
The slim design of today’s slick new energy  efficient appliances take up less floor space leaving more room for yoga or the Wii workout.
Alright REALTORS, share with us your sexy energy efficiency dialogue ….blog back today!
First time home buyers, what do you find “Sexy” about Energy Efficient Homes; share your dialogue….blog back today!
