Repeal put in perspective

The Spokesman-Review

I am disappointed, but not surprised, by Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ decision to vote against the health care bill and to state she plans to work on repealing it. The statements she released show the same fear-mongering talking points, distortion of the facts and lack of understanding of her constituents that she has exhibited since in office.

I hope before another person in her district dies or goes bankrupt from lack of access to the same type of health coverage she enjoys that we see change to our congressional representation. She claims she will work to repeal the legislation – does she plan to campaign on reopening the doughnut hole for seniors? How about campaigning on reinstating denial of coverage for pre-existing conditions or rescission of policies for those who get sick? Will she campaign on her plans to work to repeal the ability of parents to insure their kids?

Perhaps she should draw back even further and work to repeal other legislation her party fought and used the same tactics on – Medicare, Social Security, civil rights. We need new representation from someone in our district who understands something besides the word “no” for us and “yes” for the insurance industry.
