The right has been bullied

The Spokesman-Review

B.J. Evans in a recent letter said that Republicans are surrounded by hate. I think somebody needs to look in their own closet.

I seem to recall the following being said about Republicans in the past: We are racists, bigots, sexists and homophobes. Republicans want to take away your (insert social program here). Bush lied; America tortured all those innocent terrorists and engaged in an illegal war with daily soldier death counts with every thousand almost celebrated.

We hear how Bush wasted a so-called surplus that Clinton left after a Republican Congress forced him to cut spending. Republicans cut taxes on the rich (which brought in more revenue, by the way) without paying for it. Remember all those Bush cronies? Even when Bush threw the prescription freebie at the retired he was hated for it.

I guess hating conservatives, especially if they are white and mostly if they are successful, is just fine. Remember, it’s never OK to question or oppose the left, just the right. If government provides you with something, it can also take it away.

Conservatives want freedom, not freebies. Republicans believe in Americans while Democrats believe in government programs. Reagan was right, Obama is wrong.
