Movement’s bond isn’t race
It appears that Mr. Scobby (Letters, April 24) would insist on a quota system in the tea party. Does not a movement whose members have a common interest and voluntarily join generate genuine diversity by not being exclusionary?
I attended the meeting and noticed several people of “color.” I saw no signs restricting any ethnic group. If you had a common interest you were welcome to attend, a matter of individual choice.
His comments on taxes are even harder to understand. Is there any taxpayer in this country that is truly satisfied with the manner of spending by our elected officials?
That is the issue behind the interest in the tea party. Find candidates of character and integrity that will carry through on campaign promises.
