Charges dropped for WSU’s Casto

DeAngelo Casto’s legal troubles are over after the Whitman County prosecutor’s office dropped the fourth degree assault charges earlier this month. We have a short story, so read on.

PULLMAN – The Whitman County prosecutor’s office has dropped fourth degree assault charges against Washington State University starting basketball center DeAngelo Casto.

Casto was arrested in late March following a fight on NE B St. after an unidentified man alleged Casto had punched him. The charges were dismissed earlier this month after a compromise was reached and agreed to by all parties, according to a spokesperson in the prosecutor’s office Wednesday.

The 6-foot-8 Casto averaged 10.7 points and a team-high 7 rebounds last season as a sophomore. His 106 career blocks are sixth all-time for WSU.

• UPDATE: Phil Steele has put out his All-American teams, which means his all-conference teams are out as well. You can check out his All-Pac-10 team here. I’m not a big fan of Steele’s work and the Washington State choices makes me even less so. Micah Hannam is listed as a fourth-team offensive tackle, which might be appropriate if he were still playing tackle . Linebacker Alex Hoffman-Ellis earns third-team honors, the same as defensive end Travis Long. And punter Reid Forrest, quite possibly the best at his position the Cougars have? He’s not mentioned.
