Get the facts straight

The Spokesman-Review

In response to the letter “Plenty of blame to share” published on Tuesday, May 25, maybe Mr. Sahlberg should know the facts before he claims them. Mr. Sahlberg states the bank and insurance companies were bailed out in 2009. With less than a minute of research, he would know that the bank bailouts – TARP and insurance company bailouts – occurred in October 2008, during the Bush administration. The Democrats did not order these bailouts as he tries to portray. So, Mr. Sahlberg should stick to “just the facts, sir!”

To The Spokesman, shame on you for publishing letters fraught with incorrect statements that are passed along as facts, especially when the facts are well known. If you proliferate falsehoods enough, there are segments of society that will start to take falsehoods as facts. You should strive for higher standards than that.
