WSU gets ready for exhibition hoops
COUGARS
For the first time since March we are in Beasley Coliseum for a Washington State basketball game. The place is empty as I start this post and I wonder how many people will show up. We have some more notes and thoughts on the link, so read on.

• Right up front I’m going to let you know I’m going to try to drop some tweets tonight – though this is a first as far as basketball goes, so I’m not sure how well it will work – so if you want to follow my 140 character thoughts, you can at vinceg55. Please do. We’re in a contest at work, with the guy who gets the most new followers this month winning a prize. So add a couple more Twitter accounts and have them follow me. … Just got done talking to former Republic High star Derek Gianukakis, who is a senior at Lewis-Clark State. The Warriors lost last night at Montana, 59-39, but Gianukakis said they played pretty well defensively. They just couldn’t shoot. The stats bear that out, as the Warriors were 3 of 17 beyond the arc and 9 of 33 inside. … They do have one pretty good-sized inside player in 6-foot-9, 260-pound Donte Roberts, who Gianukakis said was recruited to play football for Alabama. Roberts had eight points last night. … A couple of Cougars, Klay Thompson, Andre Winston and Ben Loewen are now out shooting, joining a half-dozen L-C State players. … I’m interested in seeing what the Cougars do differently from last year. I’m not sure if they will show anything too different tonight, though. … We’ll be back throughout the game, but on Twitter, so follow along. We will also try to have a half-time post up for you to comment on.

• That’s it for now. We’ll be back. Until then …
