Books worth reading

Ahh! So nice. No more political ads, robocalls, etc. I’m ready to start refilling my mind, feeding my soul with good things again. It’s been said our lives are most heavily influenced by movies/TV shows watched, people met, books read. Pursuant to that last entry, two fireside recommendations:

“The Saints of God’s Country.” If you didn’t get enough of this summer’s 100th anniversary of the fire of 1910, you’ll enjoy this historical novel. (Yes, it is authored by my brother, Edward Craner. No, this is not a lame promo effort – it is truly a great story!) The “Saints” referred to in the title are the St. Joe and St. Maries rivers. Anyone who has actually visited this region of our world knows the “God’s Country” portion of the title is spot-on as well.

The other is titled “Is God on America’s Side?” by Erwin Lutzer. This book provides both complement and contrast to much of the junk we’ve heard spouted in the public square or read on these very S-R editorial pages in recent weeks leading up to the midterms.

Enjoy!
