Celebrating World Toilet Day

For those of you keeping score at home, today — Nov. 19 — is World Toilet Day . Before you laugh, there’s a sober side to World Toilet Day.The day was set aside to celebrate the importance of sanitation and raise awareness for the 2.5 billion people (nearly half of the world’s population) who don’t have access to toilets and proper sanitation. I had no idea this was World Toilet Day when I hired a plumber to fix the flushing device on the upstairs toilet that has served my family faithfully, with nary a problem, for 25 years, as of next month.
