WSU headed to LA
COUGARS
It’s late, I know, but that’s what happens when you have to catch a couple early flights to Los Angeles. Whoever scheduled both Washington State and UW in Los Angeles the same weekend probably got a little kickback from Alaska Airlines. Anyhow, we have our morning post, so read on.

• Washington State: We start, as usual, with our stuff, including our story on the next level Jared Karsetter has taken his game to and the next level he would like it to go. … From there we want to make you aware of our interview with DeAngelo Casto. … We also ran Bob Condotta’s story on next year’s Apple Cup being at Qwest Field, which makes me so happy. The press box at Husky Stadium always caused me to gag a little – I have an aversion to heights.

• Around the Pac-10: The pistol offense (should it be capitalized or not?) is catching on everywhere, but it started , like a lot of short marriages, in Reno. … Bud Withers also has his picks and power rankings for the weekend. … Ted Miller opens his weekly mailbag. … He also asks did you know ? … Five Pac-10 players are up for what-used-to-be-called the Draddy Award including WSU’s Chima Nwachukwu. Alex Brink won this award a few years back. … Jon Wilner believes Stanford is built to overpower Oregon. He may be right. … Washington: This week’s opponent, the Trojans, say the sanctions are not affecting their play. … Oregon State: More on James Rodgers and the Fiesta Bowl team. … Oregon: A couple of nice features on members of the Duck team. … George Schroeder looks at how Oregon marketed itself without mentioning former athletic director Bill Moos. … Cal: The Bears have found a strong strong safety. … Stanford: Oregon’s LaMichael James wants to erase some bad memories against the Cardinal. … USC: Matt Barkley wants to play well against UW. … Talent is no longer the Trojans’ biggest advantage. … UCLA: If Kevin Prince doesn’t play – and I’m guessing he won’t – will the Bruins be able to pass? … Arizona State: Dennis Erickson will be in town when his former OSU team is honored. … Arizona: It’s bye week and I’m not a physics fan.

• That’s all for this morning. We’ll be back this evening with our items for tomorrow’s S-R. Until then …
