‘Idaho will miss his leadership’

Idaho Gov. Butch Otter has issued a statement mourning Clint Stennett’s passing, saying, “Clint was a model of civility and bipartisan cooperation  who led by example. I’ll miss his good humor and wise counsel, and Idaho will miss his leadership.” Otter announced that all state buildings will have their flags lowered to half-staff on the day Stennett is laid to rest; click below for the governor’s full announcement.

GOVERNOR MOURNS THE PASSING OF SENATOR CLINT STENNETT

(BOISE) – Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter issued the following statement today in reaction to Thursday’s death of Senator Clint Stennett of Ketchum. Senator Stennett served in the Idaho House of Representatives for two terms and in the Idaho Senate for eight terms. He was Senate Minority Leader until his long and courageous battle with cancer forced him to miss the 2010 session of the Idaho Legislature.

Flags at all State buildings will be lowered to half-staff on the day Senator Stennett is laid to rest.

“I was proud to call Clint a close friend throughout his years in the Idaho Senate. He was a man of great integrity, civic virtue and common sense in the best tradition of citizen legislators. More than that, he was a family man and community leader who was trusted and respected by everyone who knew him. Clint was a model of civility and bipartisan cooperation who led by example. I’ll miss his good humor and his wise counsel, and Idaho will miss his leadership. Lori and I extend our sincere condolences to Michelle and the entire Stennett family.”
