Debate absence telling

Why is the Republican John Ahern hiding from the voters? As a lifelong resident who previously voted for him, I can no longer support his candidacy to become my representative in the 6th Legislative District.

Using the lame excuse that he has “schedule conflicts,” he no-showed for three recent forums where he had the opportunity to debate his opponent, Rep. John Driscoll, including the League of Women Voters forum which he knew about in August and which should have been a priority, especially because it is televised and shown over and over again.

Rep. Driscoll has shown up for every forum, willing to debate his challenger.

If informing voters of your positions isn’t a priority with Mr. Ahern, then he should stay home and enjoy the retirement that voters gave him in 2008.
