SPD wants your Halloween photo
Spokane Police are promoting healthy role models for children and would love to showcase any child dressing up as a law enforcement officer. E-mail photos of children dressed up in police outfits to spokanepolice@gmail.com ; we will post the photos on our SPD Facebook page. Any child submitting a photo is eligible for “lunch with a cop” at their school. Those who wish to post photos themselves may do so on our Spokane Police Department Facebook page. Spokane Police would like to remind kids of a few Halloween safety tips before they embark on trick or treating October 31:
ADULT SUPERVISION:
Children should never go into a stranger’s house or ring the doorbell without a parent’s permission. Never get into the car with someone you don’t know. Only trick or treat friendly homes.
MAP OUT YOUR ROUTE:
Be careful crossing streets, look both directions to make sure no cars are coming.
REMAIN VISIBLE:
Make sure to always carry a flashlight, glow stick or reflective tape to be more visible to cars.
SAFETY IN NUMBERS:
Stay in a group while trick-or-treating, or go with an adult.
DON’T COVER FACES:
Paint kids faces instead of wearing masks so they can see when they are walking.
QUALITY CHECK TREATS:
Instruct children not to eat any treats until they bring them home to be examined by an adult. And finally:
HAVE FUN !
