Right idea, wrong opponent
I am writing in response to a recent article by Thomas Clouse concerning the District Court race between incumbent Debra Hayes and challenger Timothy Note.
I do not know Mr. Note. I do know Ms. Hayes. I worked with her when she was a legal intern and then a prosecutor. She quickly earned the reputation as a hard worker and someone who is passionate about her job.
Mr. Note does not appear to take issue with Ms. Hayes, but the District Court in general. His observations are generally true. The well-paid judges need to be held accountable and be available. Unfortunately, Mr. Note had decided to run against one of the judges that IS available and IS accountable. It appears he decided to run against Ms. Hayes because she is the newest judge. He should have done his homework and run against one of the judges whose office is often dark and whose parking spot is often empty.
Judge Hayes is a fine judge and we need to retain her.
