Statesman: Allred Better Choice

A s the state’s highest-ranking elected official, a governor should possess a focused vision for Idaho’s future. As the CEO of state government, the governor should possess the skills required to reach sensible, evidence-based decisions. By both metrics, Gov. Butch Otter has been a startling disappointment. A global recession — and its punishing effect on Idaho’s economy and tax revenues — have obviously plagued Otter. But the past four years have also been marred by mistakes and missteps of Otter’s own making. On Nov. 2, voters have a rare opportunity to press the reset button.
