Otter Spurns NIdaho, Lewiston Debate

Idaho Gov. C.L. (Butch) Otter has canceled plans to debate Democratic opponent Keith Allred in Lewiston Oct. 7. The debate was co-sponsored by the Lewiston Tribune, the Moscow-Pullman Daily News and KLEW-TV. Debbie Field, Otter’s campaign manager, informed the Tribune by e-mail this morning that the governor “will be unable to accept your invitation for the October 7 debate.” She offered no explanation and did not immediately return a phone call. Tribune reporter Kathy Hedberg, who was coordinating the debate, said Field gave her a verbal confirmation on July 16 that Otter would participate in the debate/ Lewiston Tribune , via Facebook.

Question: What do you make of this unexplained decision by Gov. Butch Otter not to debate Democrat Keith Allred in North Idaho?
