Gladys Scott’s letter to the editor, “Old Testament wisdom,” (Sept. 14) proves how ineffective our educational system is and how prejudiced people are.

She contrives a “fact” from the Old Testament that supports her viewpoint. The fact is, the terms “left” and “right” come from a tradition in the French National Assembly that started during the French Revolution. The liberals literally sit on the left wing, the conservatives on the right. Sorry, it’s as simple as that and didn’t require any divine intervention.
