Sarbaugh will be a Bulldog
Gonzaga Prep guard Chris Sarbaugh has decided to continue his basketball career at Gonzaga University .
Sarbaugh earned All-Greater Spokane League honors as a junior last season. He averaged 9 points for the Bullpups, who finished 24-4 and advanced to the state tournament.
“He was getting a lot of interest after the summer AAU circuit: Denver , Lehigh, Seattle ,” Gonzaga Prep coach Matty McIntyre said. “ Montana was really high on him. It was totally Chris’s decision but I think it’s a smart move. He’s obviously going to a great program with a lot of tradition.”
McIntyre anticipates Sarbaugh assuming more of the scoring burden this season with the departure of GSL MVP Ryan Nicholas, who is playing at Portland .
“Chris is probably one of the best on-ball defenders and overall defenders that I’ve seen,” McIntyre said. “Very athletic, jumps well. Offensively, he’s probably a pass-first guy, likes to get others involved, but I think he’s developing more into a scorer.”
