Mideast’s past is passé

“And the story goes on …,” proclaimed Bill Stanley at the conclusion of the epic film “Exodus,” last week’s Saturday night movie.

It’s the highest time that the millions who perished under Nazi atrocities should be remembered and honored together with the countless Palestinians and Israelis who have so needlessly perished since then. There should be peace between Israel and Palestine. The people of both nations deserve no less. It is their most basic human right.

The youth (sabras) of Israel don’t want to dwell in the past, and the youth of Palestine want to live, want to be educated and to prosper like everyone else. Give them a chance! They could live side by side, in friendship, two excellent nations without prejudice, putting to shame the old guard who insist on living in the past, and in their stead presenting to the world a showcase of what Judeo-Christian and Muslim ideals really mean.
