Carbon taxes fuel growth

Good news, everyone! The spiraling economic doom caused by unpredictable natural events and Rebecca Black’s new music video “Friday” may be offset by implementing a statewide carbon tax, which would encourage reduced usage of carbon fuels. This in turn would promote other forms of energy which the state of Washington already partakes in, such as wind and solar power, increasing our economic viability in the future.

Many countries around the world have already implemented a carbon tax, as well as a few cities in the United States (Boulder, Colo., and San Francisco are examples). We should join the ranks of market-savvy cities and countries who understand that a carbon tax would not be a burden on the lower classes, but rather a mechanism for market growth and sustainable energy. Washington must remain a leader in the ongoing fight for renewable energy.
