Tax drive rolls on

At my advanced age I think I have become numbed by moronic laws concocted by our state Legislature.

Did I hear this right? If you drive a hybrid or electric car, $100 will be added to your car license tabs fee? Our elected folks’ reasoning is you are not burning enough gasoline and therefore our state is missing out on your gas taxes. Pardon me, but what happened to “Go green,” “Halt dependence on foreign oil, “Conserve energy,” “Ride public transit,” “Pedal your bike” and “Walk”?

This may be a shot-across-the-bow warning for those senior citizens with walkers, wheelchairs, and three-wheeled scooters. Could it be that cyclists, skateboarders, in-line skaters, baby strollers and tricycles may be next for the tax axe? Should I count my laps at Pattison’s skating rink to ensure I pay my fair share while roller skating? Not to leave anyone out, it may pay to have odometers on shopping carts.

Politicians’ decisions give me gas! This decision smells worse than the bovine retorts in the Ellensburg cattle feed lot.

I am going to check my Bloomsday brochure to make sure I am not taxed for 7.5 miles on the 1st of May.
