Letter: Halt the spending express

I believe the “budget battle” needs to be won if our country is to move forward. Weakness now in standing up against those that have no regard for budget constraint will only serve to undermine our way of life.

While Americans in general have seen a 4 percent decrease in their income, the federal government has increased spending in the last two to three years by 36 percent. Unbelievable! And now they are saying to reduce the increase by only $100 billion is radical. It is comparable to a person increasing their annual salary from $60,000 to $100,000 – and then saying it is “radical” to cut back to $99,950.

Get a life! We as individuals have to live within our means, and so should the federal government. Anyone that can’t understand that does not deserve to be re-elected to Congress and should have their pay stopped until they agree with such a logical conclusion.
