Letter: Preserve park sculpture
Out of high respect for artist Harold Balazs, Charles W. Smith and Expo ’74, I hereby endorse Harold Balazs’ opinion of maintaining the Smith sculpture of 1974 to cater to the potential danger of it deteriorating and being unsafe for children to climb on.
It should be covered around and over the top with appropriate fencing material. Furthermore, there should be appropriate signage to indicate it is illegal to enter and contact the sculpture.
Obviously, it must remain clearly and appropriately visible. The sculpture should remain in the park.
