Gender doesn’t alter evil

Cartoonist Clay Bennett (April 17) assumes that all women support abortion rights. He insults women, like myself, who are appalled that abortion ever became a right.

Once slavery was legal, but it was always evil. Abortion is evil.

Mr. Bennett says, bring a man into the equation and it will never be questionable again. Does Mr. Bennett patronize the “fairer sex” with this idea? Does he know how many men have sacrificed their lives in war for the sake of their and others’ children? Has he ever counseled a man who grieves over the loss of an unborn child? Would he be shocked to discover the agony a man suffers when he’s declared sterile and unable to have children with his wife?

There are over 1.3 million abortions performed a year in the United States alone. Does Mr. Bennett know how many of those unborn babies would grow up to become men? Over half!

I have sons and daughters, and each of them would put the life of any child before their own. It’s not a question of “rights” to them, it’s a question of what is right! I pray that the evil of abortion never becomes unquestionable.
