Debt hike no answer

Raise the debt limit? Why would we do that? Why do we need more debt?

I know people and institutions that have gotten themselves into terrible financial difficulties. Debt was always a factor. If I go into debt, the payback is painful.

But the national debt is generational in nature. The payback falls on my grandchildren and great-grandchildren, yet unborn. I am mortgaging their future, their liberty and their safety. Why is that a good idea, and not a greedy idea, a selfish, barbarous and cruel idea?

Founding Father Tom Paine said, “If there be trouble, let it be in my time that my son may have peace.”

The Bible says, “the borrower is servant of the lender” and, “The children are not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.”

Historically the Americans sacrificed much, some even gave their lives so others could be free. Today, many Americans seem willing to sacrifice others’ lives and others’ freedom to gain dependency and debt. With my 200 words I ask, where it …
